Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC), located in Louisville, Kentucky, is one of 16 two-year, open-admissions colleges of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). JCTC was formed on July 1, 2005 by the consolidation of Jefferson Community College and Jefferson Technical College. Jefferson Community College was originally chartered in 1968 and Jefferson Technical College (originally Jefferson County State Vocational-Technical School and later Kentucky TECH, Jefferson Campus) was chartered in 1953.〔(JCTC Mission Statement )〕 It is a two-year college located in Louisville and is the largest college in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. JCTC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). ==Students==
In the Fall 2009 semester, Jefferson's total headcount was 14,991 students with an average age of 26 years old. The student body is 52.7% female, 47.3% male. In Fall 2009, minority enrollment included 21% of African-American students (who declare ethnicity). There are 40 different languages spoken on campus.〔(Visitors and Community )〕
